DebtXS™ Sponsors Gary Joe Kinne Benefit Golf Tournament

DALLAS – June 13, 2005 – Friends of Baylor and the 1985 graduating class of North Mesquite High School invited the public to play in the Gary Joe Kinne Benefit Golf Tournament held at Waterview Golf Club in Rowlett, Texas on Friday, June 10, 2005. Coach Kinne was shot during a confrontation at the high school field house in April of this year. Proceeds from the tournament went to help assist the family of Canton High School Head Coach Kinne as he recovers.

“Coach Gary Joe Kinne has dedicated his life to providing leadership not just on the football field, but also in the everyday lives of the students he coaches and mentors,” said Grant Teaff, former head football coach of Baylor University.  “This tournament allows those of us who have had the pleasure to know Gary Joe and his special family a chance to help an extraordinary friend, player, teammate and coach.”

The four-person Florida scramble tournament began at 1:00 p.m. and the entry fee was $80 per player or $300 for a foursome, which included the green fees, carts, range balls and a hospitality bag.  DebtXS sponsored a foursome and donated items for the hospitality bag. The foursome sponsored by DebtXS included Adrian Viels, DebtXS settlement advisor; Vincent Guerra, Comerica Bank vice president – Texas division and business development officer; Danny Rosales, City of Dallas Police Department Gang Unit and detective; and Rachel Williamson, American Financial Literature for the Education of Children executive director.  The DebtXS-sponsored team finished seven under par with a score of 65.

After the awards, auction and dinner, a special video was shown of Coach Kinne thanking everyone who turned out to play and participate in the event. There was also coverage in the Dallas Morning News, Mesquite Daily News, Tyler News, Canton Paper, Fox Sports, WB, NBC 5 and the TICKET radio – all showing their support and best wishes for a fast recovery.
